Guerrette and Wheaton win Big East weekly honor

Griffin Guerrette pulled in his third Big East Conference Player of the Week honor of the season, while Emily Wheaton claimed the award for the first time as Presque Isle pulled off a sweep of the recognition last week. 

Guerrette, a senior guard, scored 20 points to go along with seven assists and six rebounds to help the Wildcats defeat Old Town Jan. 15. He then collected 29 points, five rebounds and four assists in a victory at Houlton Jan. 18 before notching 39 points, six rebounds and five assists at home against Foxcroft Academy Jan. 20.

Wheaton scored 17 points, including the 1,000th of her career, and added five rebounds and tied her season-high in assists with seven in a victory at Old Town Jan. 15 and then totaled 27 points, in a home loss to Houlton two nights later. She went 5 for 5 from the foul line against the Shiretowners. The senior guard capped the week with eight points, four rebounds and four assists Jan. 20 as the Wildcats stopped Foxcroft at home.
