Air service change bad for patients needing to travel to Boston

To the editor:

I, like many northern Maine residents, am greatly concerned over the recommendation of Presque Isle city councilors to have United Airlines replace Pen Air in providing air service in Presque Isle, thus switching the destination hub from Boston to Newark, New Jersey.

I have a blood disorder that I get seen at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston for. I am being referred again to the hematology unit there for another appointment.

New Jersey is too far from Boston. For the very sake of the sick people in northern Maine, do not remove the best way to allow us to get to Boston. I’m sure we all share a feeling of despair right now.
