PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — Ben Seidman — who has appeared on Penn & Teller: Fool Us and served as a creative consultant for “Mindfreak” on A&E — will appear at the University of Maine at Presque Isle on Friday, Feb. 2, at 7 p.m. at the Auditorium in Wieden Hall. This show is free and open to the public.
Seidman’s unique performances are a creative mixture of psychological magic tricks, stand-up comedy, pick pocketing, and sleight-of-hand. According to his website, his show is “playful and fully interactive, resulting in a dynamic and awe-inspiring night. With each performance the audience realizes they are seeing something truly unique.”
A comedian and magician in a league of his own, Seidman is the only person to serve as the Resident Magician at Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas. After several thousand performances at numerous luxury casinos, Seidman has become known as a powerful young staple of the Las Vegas entertainment scene. His residency at Mandalay follows a three-season contract as creative consultant for Mindfreak on A&E, during which he designed the illusions performed by Criss Angel.
He also has co-starred in Magic Outlaws on the Travel Channel. He was named 2015 Best Small Venue Performer by Campus Activities Magazine and 2014 Entertainer of the Year by Princess Cruises.
Seidman has traveled across the country, performing in front of audiences both large and small. He has performed at the Comedy & Magic Club in Hermosa Beach, CA, has been a headliner at Catch a Rising Star Comedy Club, and is a frequent performer at the Magic Castle in Hollywood. He has also opened the critically acclaimed Just For Laughs Tour through Vancouver, Victoria, and a number of other North American cities. Earlier this year, he spent three months in Stockholm, performing and directing Helt Magiskt, for SVT, the biggest TV channel in Sweden.
