PEGGY U. SANDERS STUART, FL, and HOULTON – Peggy U. Sanders of Houlton passed away on Sunday, January 21, 2018, at the age of 86. She was living in Stuart, FL, with her daughter and son-in-law under the care of Treasure Health. She was born on July 4, 1931, to Whitfield and Dorothy Curtis; she was one of four children.
Peggy graduated from Houlton High School, shortly thereafter married Lawrence Sanders, starting their life of 64 years together. She was a kind and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.
She worked for many years at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard as a kitchen manager. She enjoyed volunteering whenever possible, gathering with friends, and attending her purple hat club.
Peggy is survived by her three children: daughter, Brenda Sanders-Jenkins and husband, Ken Jenkins, of California; daughter, Dottie White and husband, Peter White, of Florida, and son, Keith Sanders and wife, Tressa Sanders, of New York; grandchildren, Cindy Bergener of FL, Marty White of FL, Katerina Jenkins of CA, Alex Hackett, Julie Snyder, Loretta Powell of NY; great-grandchildren, Katie and Kyle Bergener of FL, Andrew White of FL, Amanda Kirkpatrick of AZ, Benjamin and Henry Powell of NY, Terra Jenkins Issaquah, Kyle Jenkins of Sebastopol, CA, Devon Jenkins of Ithaca, NY; sisters-in-law, Viola Hersey, Donna Curtis, and longtime family friends, Don and Charlotte Marley, Lynn Lait of ME, and Mari Gaynor of NH.
