John J. Seiler

JOHN J. SEILER, OAKFIELD – John J. Seiler, 82 years old, died peacefully and went to his eternal home on January 24, 2018. He was born on October 28, 1935, in Glastonbury, CT, the son of John Seiler and Catherine “Kitty” Seiler Spencer Mills.
He attended school in Glastonbury, then graduated from Lee Academy in 1953. John attended Aroostook States teachers College graduated in 1961. He served in the Military for three years, attached to the 82nd Airborne. He was employed as an insurance adjuster in Portland and Vermont. He returned to Maine with his family and was employed by MSAD #30 in Lee as a Junior High School teacher, then Monmouth School and Dyer Brook as an Elementary principal. In 1978 they bought and operated Lake Molunkus Sporting camp in TIR5 for nearly 20 years.
John was a member and served as a deacon of Oakfield Baptist Church. He was a president of Baptist Park Christian camp in Mapleton for five years. He and Marge traveled to Florida during the winter for several years. While there, they volunteered for Habitat for Humanity and Building Together.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Marjorie Buck Seiler; two sons, Jay and his partner, Lisa, and Scott and his wife, Violeta Seiler; four grandchildren, Joshua Seiler and Ashley Seiler and Mate. P.J., Ryan Baptista and Len Baptista and Aunt Dorothy Seiler; special nephew, David (Nancy) Piella; and a niece, Donna (Al Carson). John was predeceased by his father, mother, and two step-fathers; and a sister, Connie and partner, Jim Hannington.

Friends called from 1-2 p.m. on Saturday, January 27, 2018, at Bethel Pentecostal Church, Oakfield, where funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. with Rev. Sterling Lawrence officiating. In lieu of flowers, it was John wish that donations be made to Baptist Park Camp, P.O. Box 498, Mapleton, ME 04757. A spring interment will be at the Southside Cemetery, Mapleton.
