CARIBOU, Maine — A storm blew through Aroostook County yesterday, causing slippery roads, blowing winds and several inches of snow in some parts of the area.
More snow is on the way later in the week, as well as bitter cold, according to Priscilla Farrar, meteorologist at the National Weather Service in Caribou. Farrar said that the most snow from the recent storm fell in Houlton, where 4 inches was recorded.
Island Falls picked up 2 inches, and 1.4 inches was recorded in Bridgewater. Presque Isle saw 0.4 inches before the storm ended early Wednesday morning, and Caribou picked up just 0.1 inches. Patten recorded 2 inches, while Danforth saw 3 inches on the ground.
Farrar said that more snow is likely tonight, as well as wind chill values as low as zero. She said that new snow accumulation will be light, with one inch of snow possible.
A chance of snow is possible both Thursday and Friday, with falling temperatures expected again. Lows on Friday are expected to be -11 degrees. On Saturday evening, temperatures are expected to be -8 degrees, after temperatures during the day are expected to be near 2 degrees. On Sunday evening, temperatures the low will be around -2 degrees.
