Free climbing night offered

The University of Maine at Presque Isle will host a free women’s climbing night on April 20 from 6-8 p.m. at Gentile Hall. This event is free thanks to the sponsorship of Cary Medical Center’s Healthy You program.         Members of the community are invited to come in and enjoy climbing on UMPI’s 37-foot climbing wall.

Codrey steps down

from CA coaching jobs

Rodney Codrey has resigned from his varsity girls basketball and softball coaching positions at Central Aroostook High School, according to Ryan Guerrette, the school’s athletic director.

Codrey had coached in the program for 11 years, including stints as a JV basketball coach and varsity baseball coach.

Under Codrey, the Panthers girls basketball team had reached the Eastern Maine Class D finals in 2010 and was a consistent tournament team during his tenure.         Last year’s softball team went 10-6 and placed fifth in the final EM D standings before losing in the quarterfinals.

UMPI player gains Sunrise pitching honor

The University of Maine at Presque Isle’s Dylan Worster, a freshman from Howland, was honored as the Sunrise Conference pitcher of the week for April 4-10 after tossing a shutout against Lesley University April 8.

He fanned five batters and allowed just four hits and one walk in a nine-inning, 5-0 complete-game shutout for the Owls.
