PRESQUE ISLE — Hadley McLean, the 8-year-old, daughter of Tim and Holly McLean, of Presque Isle, recently underwent brain surgery in Boston to remove a malignant tumor and will require additional treatment in the months ahead. To assist the family with medical bills and related expenses, a benefit fund has been established.
“Hadley was diagnosed with medulloblastoma, which is a malignant brain tumor. She’s currently in the Children’s Hospital in Boston,” said her grandfather, Jack McLean.
Hadley began reporting headaches to her mother earlier this winter. They progressively got worse, with the child reportedly experiencing fatigue and weakness. When she recently said she was seeing two of everything, her mother immediately sought medical attention. Two weeks ago Hadley went to the doctor and an MRI revealed a tumor the size of a lemon. The child and her parents were flown to Boston, where the girl underwent surgery on April 12.
Normally active and outgoing, Hadley is now facing months of treatment, including speech therapy, and more tests.
To aid the family, a benefit fund has been set up in her name at the Aroostook County Federal Savings and Loan Bank in Presque Isle.
“Anyone wishing to make a donation may make a deposit at the ACFS Bank in Presque Isle or Caribou to the Hadley Benefit Fund. For more information, call 764-6591,” said McLean.
Donations can be mailed as well to: ACFS, 364 Main St., Presque Isle, ME 04769; or ACFS, 43 High St., Caribou, ME 04736.
