American leadership speaks with forked tongue
To the editor:
I watched CNN News during the countdown to a government shutdown and was amazed and ashamed of the image you people presented to the American people and the world. It was at the least disgusting.
The people in Washington seem to believe that the American people have no concept of how our country is run or the world. However we all know the superior and the powerful make the laws and rules, which we have to live with and by. Even though our government is supposed to be a government “of the people and by the people,” what has happened to this concept of government?
The budget problem should have been taken care of six months ago but due to your childish and “my way” disposition, things didn’t get done as usual.
When I saw where the Congress and Senate would be paid, even if there was a government shutdown, and our military and their families pay would stop, it made me wonder why anyone would want to lay their life on the line for a government run in such a manner. There are those who give their life on the battlefield and others come home wounded and disabled for life. The retired military served their years with dedication and pride.
Sure, shut the government down. Cut funds for the important plans that help the poor and jobless. We still get our pay, benefits, vacations and health care.
The American people did not get this country into the financial condition we find ourselves in. You people in Washington did. Now you want us to bear the burden of bailing the country out of debt while you continue to live a life of luxury.
My conclusion is we have hundreds of people running our government who couldn’t find their way out of a wet paper bag. These people talk the talk, but you don’t walk the walk.
When I attended the NCO Academy Air Force, we were taught leadership is by example, and you people show and reflect a poor example of leadership. As the Indian used to say about the white man, “you people speak with forked tongue.”
In time you will pay for your actions and deeds. Not only are you going to suffer the condemnation of the American people, but also you are going to suffer the wrath of God upon America for removing God from our government. Rest assured judgment day is coming for America.
There are many in America who will never have the opportunity to enjoy the American dream because of people like those in Washington, D.C.
