CARIBOU, Maine — New Ventures Maine will offer a free introductory business planning workshop at the Caribou Public Library on Wednesday, Feb. 7, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Karin Petrin, microenterprise coordinator for New Ventures Maine in Aroostook County and the trainer for the workshop, said, “This class answers the many questions related to business ownership and start up so you can decide if self-employment may be right for you and helps get you pointed in the right direction.”

The session will help participants decide if self-employment is the right choice for them. The class covers the pros and cons of owning a business, the steps needed for start-up, the major elements of a business plan, and the many resources within Aroostook County and statewide.

Men, women, couples and all entrepreneurs who are interested in starting a business are welcome to attend, as well as business owners who want a refresher on business planning, marketing and financial cash flow planning.

New Ventures Maine will also offer Business Basics, a free three-week class, from Feb. 22 through March 8 at the University of Maine at Presque Isle for those seeking more in-depth knowledge.
