Carlisle hosts final swim meet before league championships

LIMESTONE, Maine — The Carlisle swim team was back in action Saturday, hosting Hampden Academy and Foxcroft at the Limestone Community School pool.

Team scores in the girls meet were Hampden with 39, Carlisle with 28 and Foxcroft Academy with 27. For the boys, Hampden led with 56 points, followed by Foxcroft with 20 and Carlisle 14.

Carlisle’s girls 200 medley relay team of Abigail Raymond, Emily Stillion, Madelyn Wing and Kyra Thibeault was first in 2 minutes and 15.98 seconds.

Wing won the 200 free style in 2:12.04 and the 500 free in 5:54.38. Stillion (1:25.07) and Riley McNeal (1:34.58) were second and third, respectively, in the 100 fly. Stillion also took third in the 100 free in 1:10.51, Elizabeth Deschenes was third in the 100 breast in 1:37.29 and Raymond was third in the 100 back in 1:20.19.

Carlisle’s 200 free relay team of Abby Espling, Libbee Currie, Grace Kurtz and Raymond registered a runner-up finish in 2:22.65. The 400 free relay team of Wing, Thibeault, Espling and Stillion placed second in 4:36.51.

For the boys, Jay Philbrick of Carlisle was the winner of the 100 butterfly in 1:18.28. James Lau was second in the 500 free in 6:59.05 and the 100 breast in 1:19.04, Harrison Ma was third in the 100 breast in 1:21.12 and Spencer Soucy was third in the 200 free in 2:35.54.

The Carlisle boys are in the Penobscot Valley Conference championships Friday at 6 p.m. and the girls compete Saturday at 2 p.m. Both competitions will be held at the University of Maine at Orono’s Wallace Pool.
