Siblings from Washburn both had strong weeks for their Husson basketball teams last week and were rewarded with some recognition.

Mitch Worcester, a senior guard, was named to the Maine Men’s Basketball Coaches and Writers Association Honor Roll. The Eagles split their two games, losing to New England College and beating Colby-Sawyer College, and Worcester had 32 points, 10 rebound and three steals in the two contests. He went 3 for 3 from 3-point distance against NEC.

His younger sister, Kenzie, was selected to the Maine Women’s Basketball Coaches Association Honor Roll. Her team also went 1-1, beating NEC and falling to Colby-Sawyer. She had 28 points in the win and 14 points and four assists in the loss. During the weekend, she became the fastest woman in school history to surpass the 1,200-point mark for a career.

Both were standout players for the Washburn Beavers, each gaining All-State honors as high school players, with Kenzie also playing on four teams which captured Class D state championships. Mitchell graduated in 2013 and Kenzie in 2015. Their parents are Larry and Kim Worcester of Washburn.
