ASHLAND, Maine – Ronald Dana Carney, 68, of Ashland, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, February 10, 2018. He was born on September 22, 1949, in Ashland, a son of the late Alvery and Lillian (Cloukey) Carney.
Ronald operated his logging business, Carney’s Logging Inc., for 20 years and worked at Fraser Timber for 12 years before retiring. He was former member of the Ashland School Board from 1990 to 1995, a current member of the Ashland Planning Board since 2011, and past president of the Ashland ATV Club. Ronald was also a 3rd Degree member of the Knights of Columbus. Ronald was a family man through and through. He loved being surrounded by all his children and grandchildren on a daily basis. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren at all their events, from sports to dancing to band concerts. He loved boasting to anyone who would listen about all the accomplishments Papa’s grandchildren made. Camp was his favorite place to be during summer and winter. He was either captaining the pontoon boat or watching the ice fishing flags trip from the picture window. There wasn’t a problem he couldn’t troubleshoot or a mechanical issue he couldn’t fix. Always one to give advice, he was the rock that his family leaned upon. He would say it as he saw it, whether it was what you wanted to hear or not. He will be so greatly missed by his family and will be well remembered by with love… Rest easy, Papa.
He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Debbie (Warner) Carney; three children, Ryan Carney and his wife, Michelle, Holly Chasse and her husband, Ray, and Hope Doughty and her husband, Ron; five siblings, Rodney Carney and his wife, Fran, Brian Carney and his wife, Laurie, Donna Deabay and her husband, Freeman II, Elaine Gagnon and her husband, Chris, and Karen Flint and her husband, Keith; ten grandchildren, Ryan Jr., Brandon, Mia and Michaela Carney, Tyler and Amber Chasse, and Morgan, Drew, Abby, and Emma Doughty; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews.
