The Oakfield Seniors finally were able to gather at the Smoki-Haulers Snowmobile Club in Oakfield after several meetings were cancelled due to snowstorms.
Following the potluck luncheon, the business meeting opened with the Flag Salute and Lord’s Prayer. All reports were read and accepted. Wannetta Townsend won the 50/50 raffle. Birthdays for February were recognized.
Tammy Delong, Medicare specialist from the Aroostook Agency on Aging in Presque Isle, shared information on the new Medicare rules; some things have changed this year.
Diana Clark, also from the Agency on Aging, is the new “fraud” director. There are so many phone scams going on right now; be sure not to give out any information about yourself and HANG UP if you have any questions about who is calling you.
Lisa Moulton, the agency’s elder advocate, said fuel assistance is still available until the end of April. Also, to apply for the tax and rent refund, you need to file. Call the AAA if you have any questions.
Attending were: Marie Gillotti, Arlene Friel, Mildred Gagnon, Don and Charlotte Marley, Bernice Campbell, Jeanne Clements, Bob and Delores Locke, George Barrow, Wannetta Townsend, Everett and Barbara Doughty, Earl and Lottie Doughty, Verna Boone and guests Tammy Delong, Diana Clark and Lisa Moulton.
The next meeting will be on Feb. 21 at the snow club. All seniors are invited to join us at 11:30 for the potluck and business/entertainment to follow.
