GORHAM, Maine – Democratic gubernatorial candidate Jim Boyle has joined a lawsuit filed by the supporters of ranked choice voting to compel the implementation of the new law.
“It’s ridiculous that we are four months from a primary and voters don’t yet know how the election will be conducted,” Boyle said. “We can’t delay implementation any longer.”
“I’ve strongly support ranked choice voting since 2010 and believe that it’s a better, fairer way to conduct our elections,” Boyle said. “Voters approved ranked choice voting, and when the Legislature tried to repeal the law, they quickly organized a People’s Veto campaign that collected about 80,000 signatures in a short time to stop them. It’s time that the law be implemented and that voters know that their voices are being heard.”
