LAING, Geraldine A., 74, WESTFIELD, May 12, 2011. Arrangements are in the care of Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, Presque Isle.

WESTFIELD – Geraldine A. Laing, 74, went to meet her Lord, Thursday May 12, 2011, at her residence while surrounded by her family. She was born September 27, 1936, in Westfield, the daughter of Guy and Elizabeth (Burtchell) Winship. Gerry’s faith was very important to her and she loved doing the work of her Lord. She attended the Church of Jesus on Chapman St. for years and was very active in the church as a song leader. She was president of the Ladies Auxiliary as well as many other things.

She is survived by her husband, David Laing Sr.; a daughter, Goldina Brown and her husband, Ray of Presque Isle; a son, David Laing Jr. of Westfield; three grandchildren, Michael Brown of Rockland, Colleen Brown and her boyfriend, D.J. Burby of Presque Isle and Ryan Laing LaBounty of Raleigh, NC; and also great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind three sisters, Pearl Peluso, Virginia Brown and Pauline Davenport all of Presque Isle; a brother, Emerson Winship of Presque Isle as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a sister, Dorothy Patterson and a great-granddaughter, Heidi Simon.

Funeral services were conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, May 15, 2011, at Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St. with the Rev. Mark Carter officiating. Friends called from 1 p.m. until time of service. A reception was held after the service at the Church of Jesus on Chapman St. Donations may be made in Gerry’s memory to Dana Farber Cancer Institute, P.O.
