Still not much to write about from here. The whole area seems to be just waiting for the next snowstorm, of which we sure have had enough. Right now it appears to be a battle of ice competing with snow, as with warmer temperatures the ice seems to be getting the upper hand.
I have heard that the local veterinarian, Jean Ennis, has moved her office from downtown to the office formerly used by Daigle Oil Co., which is on the road heading for Patten.
Neighbor Roger Webb has taken his new puppy to have the vet check him out and was told that the puppy, Cooper by name, was in fine shape.
Right now my driveway is nothing but a sheet of ice and, therefore, pretty hard to walk on without slipping and sliding all over the place, so Cooper would have a hard time walking over for a visit. When the ice is finally gone, it’ll be easier for him to visit.
I have a great number of finches right now at my feeders and have to refill them about every day, but do it with Roger’s help.
I still have one gray squirrel who appears every day, scrounging around beneath the cedar tree, apparently looking for seeds that the small birds have dropped. He usually tries (in vain) to get in one of the feeders and leaves finally, very frustrated, I’m sure.
No deer have been coming in the evening to get the chunks of bread, so I figure it must be pretty hard going for them to make a trail since all this snow. I have looked out every day to see if there were any new tracks near the house.
Maybe when (and if) the snow melts they will find it easier to travel around, and I will be ready to throw out the bread and apples for them.
