FORT KENT, Maine — Dolcie Tanguay of MSSM and Max Bartley and Isabelle Jackson, both of Presque Isle, were among the top Aroostook County skiers in the five-kilometer freestyle race that capped off the two-day Class B and C state Nordic ski meet at the Fort Kent Outdoor Center.
Nearly 200 skiers from schools around Maine gathered for the season-ending cross country ski meet that featured the 5K classic style race on Thursday.
Tanguay, with a time of 17:54.6, was second in the Class C girls’ freestyle race. Isabelle Jandreau of Madawaska came in first.
Kirsten Main of Central Aroostook took fourth in 18:04.7 and Jessica Halsey of Fort Fairfield was fifth in 19:00.9. Ashland teammates Kassandra Nelson and Willow Hall were sixth and seventh in freestyle, respectively.
For pursuit results, Tanguay was third, Main fourth, Nelson fifth, Halsey sixth and Hall seventh.
For Class C boys, Tristan Pelletier of Ashland was fifth in 15:37.2 and Harrison Walters was 11th in the freestyle race in 16:09.7. In the pursuit standings, Walters placed fifth and Pelletier came in seventh. MSSM’s James Cyr took 11th in the pursuit.
Bartley came in third in the Class B boys’ competition with a time of 14:08.2. He was 12 seconds behind the winner, Nick Neveu of the Maine Coast Waldorf School in Freeport, with Maranacook’s Luke Bartol taking second place, 1.4 seconds ahead of Bartley.
Alec Cyr of Caribou took 11th in 15:01.6. Teammates Emerson Duplissie-Cyr and Evan Desmond were 14th and 17th, respectively.
Bartley was second in the pursuit and Duplissie-Cyr took the 10th spot.
Jackson also placed third for Class B girls in 16:10.8. The winning time of 14:54.7 was turned in by Sophia Laukli of Yarmouth and Olivia Skillings of Maine Coast Waldorf was next in 15:37.1.
Caribou’s Ciara Richards had the 12th fastest freestyle time in ‘B’ at 18:12.5. Macy Wakem and Abigail Wimmer were the next fastest Vikings on the day.
Jackson was fifth in the pursuit standings and Richards placed 15th.
