Winterfest Carnival brings on the fun

DANFORTH, Maine — This year’s Winterfest Carnival, sponsored by Danforth Habilitation Association, was held recently at the East Grand School in Danforth.

Though attendance was small, the event proved exciting. There were 20 booths containing carnival games.  Attendees could win tickets at each booth. After participating in each game, they turned their tickets in for prizes.

Low attendance meant better prizes for those who did attend, and organizers distributed more than $300 worth of prizes.  Each attendee left with a bag of prizes such as: light-up swords, puzzles, lunch coolers, sports balls and backpacks. “Star Wars” prizes were especially popular this year.

Students from the 11th-grade class at East Grand High School operated a concession stand.  They and their adult advisors worked hard to offer an excellent meal at a reasonable price.

Danforth Habilitation organizers thanked the dedicated staff who volunteered their time to make the event happen, and extended special thanks to 11th-grade student Charlene “Charlie” Stark, who volunteered her time to run two booths.
