Emergency shelter meeting postponed due to impending storm

HOULTON, Maine — A special meeting to discuss how the town would handle a major weather event has been postponed, ironically enough, because of a pending winter storm.

Houlton Town Manager William MacDonald said Tuesday afternoon that a planned meeting between members of the American Red Cross, Aroostook County Emergency Management Agency, town officials and residents scheduled for Thursday, March 8, has been postponed.

The purpose of the gathering was to discuss how the town could best handle a prolonged emergency or catastrophic weather event in Houlton.

The meeting will be rescheduled, but no date has been set for that meeting.
