AUGUSTA, Maine — The Bureau of Motor Vehicles is cancelling all driver license examinations scheduled for Thursday, March 8, due to the weather forecast.

A winter storm watch is in effect for the State of Maine, with at least one foot of snow expected in most regions.

“We are cancelling all driver license examinations in the interest of safety, for both our applicants and our examiners, and we will be rescheduling all applicants as expediently as possible,” said Secretary of State Matthew Dunlap.

Those who are scheduled for an exam on Thursday will automatically be rescheduled and will receive notice of a new exam date via the mail. Applicants do not need to take any action to receive a new exam date.

Any applicant who is concerned about the expiration date of his/her driver license permit due to the rescheduling of the exam should contact the Driver License Examination & Scheduling Unit at 624-9000, Ext. 52119.
