Local athletes lead North to victory at McDonald’s All-Star games

BANGOR, Maine — Local athletes put on a strong showing at the 38th annual Maine McDonald’s High School Senior All-Star Basketball Games Saturday, March 10.

Houlton’s Kolleen Bouchard, Aspen Flewelling and Kristen Graham were all named to the Class C/D North team, with Houlton coach Shawn Graham serving as one of the coaches.

Bouchard, who was also named Miss Maine Basketball during the weekend, finished with 21 points to help the North to a 79-74 victory over the South. Flewelling finished with nine points. Graham did not participate because of a knee injury.

For the boys, Cameron Cleary of Houlton was the lone southern Aroostook area representative on the North team. Cleary scored nine points to help lead the North to a 114-98 victory over the South. Logan McLaughlin of Fort Fairfield served as a coach for the C-D North boys squad.

Natalie Rickards of Katahdin was one of 10 girls named to the All-State Academic Team.

The all-star basketball weekend included the award banquet on March 9, held at the Anah Shrine Hall in Bangor, and the games and the foul shooting, girls’ 3-point shooting and boys’ slam dunk competitions on March 10 at Newman Gymnasium on the campus of Husson University in Bangor.
