A LOG TRUCK was destroyed by fire Monday on a section of the Blackstone Siding Road in Perham. Members of the Washburn Fire Department responded and are pictured working at the scene.

“Washburn fire responded to a call at 6:06 p.m. of a tractor trailer fire on the Blackstone Siding Road in Perham. Upon arrival, firefighters found the cab of the 18-wheeler completely destroyed by fire,” said Fire Chief Troy Heald.

Washburn Fire had 14 members respond and crews returned about two hours later due to smoldering debris. Irving’s private fire crew also responded, said Heald.

No injuries were reported. The driver’s name nor the owner of the vehicle were available at presstime. Heald said he is in contact with Irving officials and the cause of the fire is under investigation.

The truck, a 2009 Western Star, was considered a total loss. The trailer and its load of logs sustained minimal damage.
