CARIBOU, Maine — Russell Currier and Lydia Streinz captured titles at the 43rd Henry Anderson Ski Dag held Sunday, March 18, at the Caribou High School Ski Trails.
Currier, a two-time Olympian in biathlon and a Stockholm native, won the nine-kilometer race in 26 minutes and 6.6 seconds. He finished 55 seconds ahead of runner-up Lance McKenney of Fort Fairfield (27:01.6). In third was Jason Bartley of Presque Isle with a time of 27:18.6, while Luke Streinz of Hersey was fourth in 33:14.4
Lydia Streinz of Caribou was the female champion in 33:16.5. She placed fifth in the overall standings out of 26 racers. Sherry Dubis of Fort Kent was the women’s runner-up in 45:04.8 and she was 16th overall.
The overall top 10 was rounded out with Jeff Dubis, sixth in 33:35.6; George Ferland, seventh in 34:52.7; Kurt Jepson, eighth in 36:10.1; Paul Cyr, ninth in 37:42.6; and Tom Campbell, 10th in 38:53.4.
Age division winners were: 13-and-under female, Kayley Bell, 48:50.1; 16-19 female, Erin Kashian, 48:46.7; 40-49 female, Dubis; 60-69 female, Connie McLellan, 55:15.2; 13-and-under male, Streinz; 16-19 male, Bartley; 20-29 male, McKenney; 30-39 male, Brian Powers, 40:41.2; 40-49 male, Ferland; 50-59 male, Dubis; 60-69 male, Jepson; and 70-79 male, Bob Sprague, 47:06.
