PRESQUE ISLE, Maine – Gerard Allen Thibodeau, 72, passed away on Wednesday, March 14, 2018, at a Bangor hospital, after a long battle of multiple illnesses. He was born on December 9, 1945, in Rumford, the son of William and Sylvia (Cunningham) Thibodeau.
Gerard grew up in Rumford and after graduation he served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict. He worked for thirty-two years at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Presque Isle as maintenance and caretaker.
He is survived by his loving wife of almost forty-nine years, Cheryl (Blodgett) Thibodeau of Presque Isle; twin daughters, Rebecca Jamieson, and Erika Smith and her husband, Joel, all of Presque Isle. He will also be missed by his two grandchildren, Jacob and Johanna Smith, a brother, Richard Thibodeau and his wife, Carmen, of Lewiston, an adopted daughter, Faye Martin, and many special friends, especially his best friends, Peter and Jeff Glover.
A private graveside service with military honors will be held at Maine Veterans Cemetery, Caribou, at a later date.
