Dirigo Boys State was held at Thomas College in Waterville and Dirigo Girls State was at Husson College in Bangor, both during the week of June 19-24. The Dirigo Boys and Girls State programs teach about state government and how it functions through a mock Dirigo State government. The students participate in mock elections, bill hearings, and legislative sessions. Students have the opportunity to run for various positions in the government including governor and State House representative. Dirigo State provides a week of intensive governmental instruction and a forum for discussion and debate of ideas. The programs are sponsored by the American Legion and American Legion Auxiliary. S.W. Collins Co. and the Presque Isle Rotary Club provided the financial support for the PIHS student delegates.
