ORONO, Maine — With a shortage of track officials in northern and eastern Maine, a clinic designed to provide both beginning and advanced levels of instruction and covering all aspects of track and field officiating and rules review is being offered.

The clinic, offered by the Maine Association of USA Track and Field, takes place Sunday, April 15, at the Orono Town Office council chambers on 59 Main Street.

Registration begins at 11:30 a.m. and the clinic will run from noon-4 p.m. It is for anyone interested in officiating track and field at the youth, high school or collegiate level and is for both certification or recertification.

Don Berry, a master official in the sport who serves as the certification chair for Maine USATF, conducts the clinic.

Track and field coaches and parents of track and field athletes who want to learn more about the rules also are encouraged to attend the clinic.

There is no cost. Track rule books are available for purchase and drinks and snacks are provided.

High school and middle school meets in Aroostook County are held beginning in early May.

Please contact Mary Cady, Master USATF official, if interested in attending the clinic or have questions. She can be reached by phone at 745-2540 or by email at kdmarykd@gmail.com.
