American Legion Auxiliary, Unit 136 of Stockholm, recently held an “Americanism” essay contest for seventh- and eighth-grade students at the Woodland Consolidated School. The theme was “What can I personally do to promote Americanism in my school or community?” The essays were judged by Legionnaires and the top three were Gavin Jacob, Tanner Prashaw and Amanda Poulin. At the certificate presentation are, from left, back row, Auxiliary member Myrna Dixon; Jacob; Prashaw; and Auxiliary member Kathy Robinson. Front row: Poulin. The essays will go to the Department of Maine Auxiliary for judging, and the state winner will be submitted to the National Auxiliary. (Courtesy of Kathy Robinson)
