Carmen Thibodeau

CARIBOU, Maine – Carmen Thibodeau, 97, passed into the arms of her Lord April 14, 2018 at Caribou. She was born in Hamlin February 7, 1921 the daughter of the late Pierre “Pit” and Edna (Cormier) Martin. She was a graduate of the Sacred Heart School in Van Buren, Class of 1940. She married Alban Thibodeau July 8, 1946.

She was a longtime faithful member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, where she was a member of the Ladies of St. Anne, The Daughters of Isabella as well as the Catholic Golden Age. Carmen was mostly a stay at home Mother, who gave her time and energy to her family. She kept busy with the care of her brother, Gerald Martin and her two boys. Gerald came to live with his sister at the age of eleven and stayed until he was inducted into  the US Navy.  Carmen was very active, playing golf, going dancing, and camping with her family and dearly loved her card games. Her heart was family first, she was honest and gave her all to those that needed her. She will be deeply missed by her family and the friends she has made throughout the years. Carmen was a wonderful cook and made the best butterscotch pies and chicken stew.

She is survived by her husband of over 72 years, Alban of Caribou. Her two sons Earl Thibodeau and wife Roseann of Cumming, GA., and Galen Thibodeau and wife Brenda of Caribou. Her four grandchildren; Jeffrey Thibodeau, and Christi and Vann Riley of Georgia, Fay Thibodeau of Kittery and Denise and Gregg Fournier of Carmel. Her seven great grandchildren; Brayden, Blake and Grant Riley, Avery Thibodeau, Andre, Corbin, and Fletcher Fournier.  Sisters in law; Edburdge  Cocco of N.H., and Mary Martin of Lisbon. A nephew and wife Roy and Joan Doucette as well as many nieces and nephews.  Mrs. Thibodeau was predeceased by her first  her first husband, Walter Soucy, who was killed  in WW II, sisters Irene Thibodeau and husband Robert, Gertrude Ouellette and husband Leo, Alfreda Doucette and husband Raymond, Pauline Ouellette and husband Norman and brothers, Norman Martin and wife Lena, Conrad Martin and wife Hilda and Gerald Martin.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 am Friday April 20, 2018 from the Parish of the Precious Blood, Holy Rosary Catholic Church; Interment will be at a later date at the Old Holy Rosary Cemetery. Following the service all are invited to visit with the family for a time of continued fellowship and refreshments at the Parish Center. Friend who wish to contribute in Mrs. Thibodeau’s memory may do so through the Holy Rosary Church Building Fund.
