ARNOLD D. ‘ZIFFEL’ BALLARD, PATTEN – Arnold D. ‘Ziffel’ Ballard, 67, passed away on Sunday, April 8, 2018, surrounded by his family. He was born on July 29, 1950, in Island Falls, the son of Eugene “Cooche” and Helen (Campbell) Ballard.
Arnold attended Patten Academy and graduated from Katahdin High School, class of ’69. He owned and operated a pulp truck until 1994 when he was injured in a motor vehicle accident. He loved his family and most especially, the children.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Jayne V. (Melvin) of Patten; his siblings, Cynthia (Nate) Churchill of Brewer, Dennis (Joyce) Pratt of Hermon, Deborah (David) Cunha of Mount Chase, Catherine (Carl) Perrin, and Julie (Gordon) Kaelin, all of Patten; his aunts, Carol (Gregory) Cole of Patten, and Pauline Bates Withee, all of Patten; his lifelong friend, Peter Hunter of Patten, as well as many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Mountain Heights for the extraordinary care that Arnold had been given during his stay.
