Washburn meeting to shed light on property revaluation

WASHBURN, Maine — The town of Washburn is gearing up for its first property revaluation since 1991 this summer. For people who want to learn more or have questions, there is an information meeting scheduled next week.

Washburn Town Manager Donna Turner said an information meeting is set for Monday, May 7 at 7 p.m. at Washburn Elementary School with the tax assessor Garnett Robinson from Maine Assessment and Appraisal Services.

“It’s basically an informational meeting to let everybody know what he’ll be doing, what they can expect and to answer questions,” Turner said.

“Most people realize it’s been 27 years since one’s been done. It needs to be done.”

Washburn’s current property tax rate is $31 per $1,000 of property value.

Turner said that Robinson will be starting the revaluation and begin visiting residents in late spring.
