BRIDGEWATER, Maine — A Caribou woman is facing an OUI charge after she crashed her SUV Saturday evening on Route 1 in Bridgewater, according to the Maine State Police.
State police responded about 5:30 p.m. Saturday to a call about a 2016 GMC Terrain SUV that had driven off Route 1 in Bridgewater, crashing into nearby trees, Cpl. Dennis Quint of state police Troop F said in a news release Sunday morning.
The driver, Ashley Spinney, 34, of Caribou, told police that texting and driving led to the crash, Quint said in the release. But after further investigation, Quint arrested Spinney for both OUI and for violating her conditions of release. Quint said in the release that Spinney was previously arrested for OUI.
Spinney was not injured in the crash, and she is currently being held in Aroostook County Jail in Houlton. She is scheduled to appear at the Houlton Court on Aug. 19. Her bail has yet to be decided, according to the release.
Crown Ambulance and the Bridgewater First Responders assisted state police at the scene.
