KINGSTON, New Hampshire — Bernard Douglas Johnston, age 68 of Kingston, NH, died May 02, 2018, at Rockingham County Nursing Complex, in Brentwood, NH, with his family by his side. He was the devoted companion and husband of thirty-eight years to Dorothy (Tirone) Beaumont Johnston.
Born in Presque Isle, Maine, on September 18, 1949, he was one of five children of the late William Leland and June G. (Conlogue) Johnston. He was a lifelong tractor trailer driver and worked for Sam’s Transportation in Georgetown, MA, up until his retirement.
He was passionate about his pick-ups, classic and antique cars, he loved going to car shows, and was a huge fan of classic country music. He also enjoyed model making, coin collecting and being outdoors. He always joked, smiled and lit up the room with his contagious laugh. What he loved most about his life was his family. He was a loving husband, wonderful father, fun-loving grandfather, great-grandfather, and uncle, caring brother, and a true friend to many. We were blessed and he will never be forgotten.
He is survived by two sons, Brian Johnston and wife, Danielle, of Brewer, ME, Greg Johnston and wife, Shanan, of Carmel, ME; a daughter, Tammy Vilardi and husband, Tony, of Washingtonville, NY; a step-son, Dean Beaumont of Amesbury; a step-daughter, Dale Beaumont of Haverhill; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; two brothers, David Johnston and wife, Glenda, of Greenbush, ME, and Dale Johnston and wife, Judy, of Mars Hill, ME; two sisters, Jane Zagranis and Barbara Clevette, both of Caribou, ME, along with several nieces and nephews, extended family and dear friends.

Rogers Family Funeral Home, 2 Hillside Avenue, Amesbury, MA, will be Tuesday, May 8, 2018, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon, immediately followed by a funeral service at the funeral home.
