Well it’s official. The golf season is here. The Houlton Community Golf Course is open for business. The grounds have dried out and the crew is in full swing mowing and trimming. Power carts are available to be used. Everything has greened up with the help of the wonderful weather we have had. Come on out and play nine after work.
The Men’s Twilight League will start on June 4. Any of those interested teams that have not already signed up, please do so by May 30. If you have need of a partner, we have several golfers that would like someone to play golf with. Call the proshop and we will put you together.
The Ladies Association will be having its opening banquet on May 21, at 5 p.m. at the Lakeside Restaurant. There will be door prizes, friendship and fantastic food. In an effort to help expand the roster for the association, the HCGC board will waive the requirement of having to become a member to participate in the league for two years. Non-members will have to pay greens fee and cart fees if needed. Now you have no excuse not to join the Ladies league. We will be playing at 10 a.m. and/ or 5 p.m. every Tuesday throughout the golf season. Come out to the dinner and see why you should join us this year.
Our first scramble tournament this year will be our Memorial tournament to honor our friends and golfers who have left us this year. It will be Saturday, June 2. This is open to all golfers. Call the proshop to enter your team or get more info. Proceeds go to the Beautification Committee to help defray costs of flower planting.
The Lakeside Restaurant is now open for regular summer hours. It’s just a short drive out to the clubhouse for quiet, delicious lunch Wednesday through Saturday. Dinner is also served those days and then there is Bill’s famous Sunday Brunch. Call Nancy at 694-9494 to make your reservations.
