Several games lined up for Wednesday in region

The Southern Aroostook softball team (9-0) puts its undefeated season on the line Wednesday afternoon when it takes on Central Aroostook (2-6) at 4 p.m. in Mars Hill. The game was supposed to be played Tuesday, but was postponed due to rainy weather.

The Warriors and Panthers also will meet on the baseball diamond. In other softball and baseball games, Fort Fairfield plays Katahdin in Stacyville at 3:30 p.m., Presque Isle is at Fort Kent at 4 p.m., and Houlton is at Caribou, 4 p.m. The GHCA baseball team squares off against the Hawks in Hodgdon, also at 4 p.m.

In tennis, Van Buren heads south to take on Houlton at 4 p.m. and Presque Isle hosts Caribou at 4:15 p.m.

Presque Isle girls (6-4) 3, Fort Kent (3-2) 2 — Singles: Hana Boucher (PI) def. Sarah Pelletier 8-5, Miranda Bragan (PI) def. Cassidy Lovley 8-3, Anna Robinson (PI) def. Syndi Pelletier 8-5; doubles: Isabelle Charette-Autumn Bouchard (FK) def. Gaby Halley-Jenna Ouellette 8-3, Lexi Lovley-Hannah Daigle (FK) won by forfeit.

Presque Isle boys (7-3) 4, Fort Kent (3-2) 1 — Singles: Andre Daigle (PI) def. Niko Naranja 8-5, Jonathan Blanchette (FK) def. Mason Young 8-4, Jordan Bonville (PI) def. Reece Voisine 8-4; Doubles: Isaac Madore-Gage Young (PI) def. Caleb Delisle-Sam Johnson 8-5, Austin Moreau-Elijah Russell (PI) def. Samuel Albert-Raphael Babin 9-8 (9-7 tie-breaker)

Softball

Ashland 13, Madawaska 6 — At Ashland, Shelby Stolze drove in four runs with a double and two singles and Olivia Tardie homered to lead Ashland past Madawaska.

Jamie Poulin had a pair of singles and two RBIs for the Hornets. Amber Chasse was the winning pitcher.

Jenna Dugal paced Madawaska with a pair of doubles and a single. Riley Lausier and Cassidy Beaulieu each singled twice.

Baseball

Ashland 15, Madawaska 14 — At Ashland, Alex Kaiser drove in seven runs with a grand slam, two triples and a single and Sam Craig’s double in the bottom of the seventh drove in the winning run as Ashland survived a Madawaska rally to collect the win.

Baily Clark tripled and doubled and Parker O’Clair had three singles for Ashland, which led 10-2 after four innings.

Jonathan Pickering, Justin Pelletier and Jacob Theriault had two singles apiece for Madawaska and Tristan Cyr doubled.
