BRIDGEWATER, Maine — The Maine State Police charged a 16-year-old Bridgewater male with failure to maintain control of a motor vehicle Sunday afternoon after he lost control of his sport utility vehicle.

According to Sgt. Jeffrey Clark of the Maine State Police Troop F division, the youth was reportedly driving erratically on the East Blaine Road in Bridgewater in a 1999 Jeep Cherokee when he lost control on the dirt surface.

“The vehicle went out of control and caught the grass in the ditch causing the vehicle to roll on to its side,” Sgt. Clark said.

The police report cited speed as a contributing factor in the accident.

Neither the driver nor his four adult passengers were injured in the crash. Police summoned the male juvenile for failure to maintain control of a motor vehicle and each of the four passengers for seatbelt violations, but did not release their names.
