The Presque Isle Wildcats maintain their undefeated season and remain in first place in the latest Heal Point standings in Class B.
Easton and Washburn, which top the Class D standings, were idle last week.
Summaries of some of the matches played through Monday are as follows:
Ashland 4, Katahdin 1 — At Stacyville Monday afternoon, Royce MacDonald and Michael Cook each scored a goal to lead the Hornets to their first win of the season. Mark Chasse and Cody Blair also had one goal apiece, with Alex Chasse adding an assist. Jamie Dozier made four saves on seven shots for 1-6 Ashland.
Central Aroostook 7, Hodgdon 0 — The Central Aroostook Panthers put on an offensive display in Hodgdon Monday, tallying seven goals in a 7-0 win over the Hawks. Dan Brewer, Brendan Anthony and Spencer Stetson each had two goals for the 5-3-2 Panthers. Spencer Garrison netted the other goal. Ross Grass had the shutout in goal.
Presque Isle 6, Foxcroft 1 — The Presque Isle Wildcats upped their record to 6-0 with a impressive road win Saturday over Dover-Foxcroft. Wilder York provided the offensive spark netting two goals and two assists in the 6-1 win. Isaac Lajoie chipped in two goals as well. Jake Williams and Ben Sipe had the other goals. Andrew Kofstad had six saves on 11 shots for the Wildcats.
Coach Joe Greaves said the defense once again put in a solid effort. Presque Isle has only allowed three goals in six games.
“Cole Richards moved from midfielder to sweeper this year and is doing an unbelievable job back there,” said Greaves.
The coach also praised the play of Logan Good who marks the best player on the opposition and according to Greaves has shut down some very good players. Also earning high marks are Ryley Norton and Kyvher Lowe.
The next two weeks will be big for the Wildcats. Saturday is a home match against MDI and then it’s a lot of time on the bus with away games against Old Town, John Bapst and Ellsworth.
Fort Kent 8, Fort Fairfield 0 — At Fort Kent, Abraham Desjardins tallied two goals as the Warriors cruised to their fourth win. Antonio Naranja and Phillip Ouellette each added a goal and an assist for Fort Kent. Josh Caron, Charlie Meadow, Thomas Enerva, and Jacob Morin each chipped in a goal for the Warriors.
Chris Weeks made 5 saves on 26 shots for the 2-6 Fort Fairfield Tigers.
Fort Fairfield 1, Katahdin 0 — At Fort Fairfield Wednesday, Jacob Wortman’s goal with 22:06 remaining in regulation gave Fort Fairfield its second win against five losses. Tyler Churchill had the assist.
Chris Weeks made eight saves for the winners.
SAHS 3, Ashland 0 — At Presque Isle, Pat Goodall had two goals and an assist as Southern Aroostook of Dyer Brook earned the road victory. Cody Lassonde also scored for the 3-1-1 Warriors, while Jesse Boulier made 12 saves on 15 shots in goal.
J.J. Dozier made 13 saves on 16 shots for 0-7 Ashland.
