DANFORTH, Maine — East Grand High School principal Margaret White has announced the honor parts for the Class of 2018.
Amanda Massey has been chosen as the valedictorian, while Brady McEwen is salutatorian and Trevor Noyes is first honor essayist.
Massey is the daughter of Robert and Lori Massey of Danforth. She was inducted into the National Honor Society her sophomore year and is the vice president of the Class of 2018. Massey received the Maine Principal’s Award, Presidential Award at the University of Maine, as well as the Phi Beta Kappa Award and the Dartmouth Book Club Award.
Massey has been on the honor roll all four years and has accumulated more than 36 college credits throughout her high school career. She is in the Region II Law Enforcement program and has received Best in Class at Region II. She has participated in the local blood drives and community clean up. She played softball her senior year. This fall Amanda will be attending the University of Maine and will be studying international affairs.
McEwen is the son of Bruce and Laura McEwen of Danforth. He was inducted into the National Honor Society his junior year and is the president of the Class of 2018. McEwen has been on the honor roll all four years at East Grand.
McEwen won the Citizenship Award, was Student of the Month, and received the Maine Matters Award at UM. Brady is in the Region II Law Enforcement program. He has participated in the local blood drives and community clean up.
He played soccer, basketball and baseball for East Grand. In the fall, McEwen will attend the University of Maine, studying political science.
Noyes is the son of Trent and Sherrie Noyes of Danforth. He was on the honor roll his freshman and sophomore years. He has received the Offensive MVP and Coaches Award in his sports career at East Grand.
Noyes has taken welding for the past two years at Region II. He has participated in baseball for five years and soccer his sophomore, junior and senior year at East Grand. He was involved in community clean up as well. After graduation, Noyes plans on having a career in farming.
