PRESQUE ISLE & CARIBOU – Bessie H. McConnell 83, died Sept. 17, 2011 at a Caribou healthcare facility. She was born August 12, 1928 at Portage, the daughter of Prescott K. and Bessie (Wilcox) Holmes.
Bessie had a great love for animals and could charm the loons on the local lakes. She enjoyed basket weaving and doing many other crafts.
Bessie is survived by her husband, James McConnell of Presque Isle; two sons Gregory R. Blair of FL, Roland E. Parker, Jr. of Bangor; three daughters Rebecca Blair England of FL, Charlotte Blair Bennett of TN, Kathy Parker Rendon of FL; eight grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Judson Holmes of CA, John Holmes of NV; adopted brother, Eleiott Sutherland of MD; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, two sisters, Ora Holmes Plourde and Glenna Holmes Cyr, and adopted brother, Ernest Strong.
