The Caribou Kiwanis Club, working with ReadyNation and the Kiwanis Foundation of New England “Young Children Priority One," recently created a “Ready Corner” at the Caribou Laundry Center, which aims to boost early literacy, numeracy and parent engagement with young children. Celebrating the new effort to foster reading are, from left: Kiwanis members Kelly Basley and Ann Lin, Caribou Laundry Center owner Todd Hedrich, and Kiwanis members Mary Beth Francis and Bill Francis. Kiwanis officials said laundromats are a perfect place to foster reading and counting at an early age, along with allowing parents to read aloud to children, which can positively impact their future achievement.
