Rotary launches Cash Draw with new twist

CARIBOU, Maine — The Caribou Rotary Club announces its 2018 Cash Draw, the club’s primary fundraiser, which will culminate in a large event in August.

“We have made big changes to this year’s Cash Draw, and tickets will sell quickly,” said chair Carla Thibodeau. “Our goal is to not only serve and support our community, but to make this year’s event more fun. That’s why we’ve  partnered with Northern Maine Brewing and their second annual Brewfest to be held Saturday, August 4, from 2 in the afternoon till 10 p.m,”

“Look for our mailing and be prepared to hear from one of our Rotarians, who will assist with your Cash Draw Ticket and answer any questions,” said Thibodeau.

The club has used funds from the draw in years past to complete numerous community projects. They have sponsored the ski building at the high school, dugouts at the ball field on Sincock Street, and the playground equipment at Hilltop Elementary School. This year’s fundraiser will allow the Rotary Club to continue its long tradition of Service Above Self.

In addition, donations enable the Rotary Club to continue supporting programs of the Caribou Recreation Department, school system, Caribou Public Library abd Caribou Little League, as well as to provide bicycle helmets annually to all third-graders in Caribou and four surrounding communities.

“If you live in Caribou or the central Aroostook region, chances are very good that you or someone you know benefits from a Caribou Rotary Club project or donation,” added Thibodeau.

No more than 1,000 tickets will be sold, so chances of winning are 1 in 20.  Tickets may be purchased for $60 each or two or more at $50 each. Ticket price includes admission for one to the drawing, Brewfest, and live entertainment, including Bon Jovi Tribute Band, Boyz Gone Wild and Dakota.

Attendees must purchase their own food and beverages.

This year’s prizes are: $5,000, first prize; $4,000, second prize; two $1,000 prizes; one $500 prize; five $250 prizes; and 40 $100 prizes. A $500 door prize at the event will replace the early bird drawing.

Tickets are available from any Caribou Rotarian.
