PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — The Presque Isle girls scored 25 points, good for sixth place out of 10 teams, while the Wildcat boys posted 22, placing them ninth, at the Penobscot Valley Conference Large School Track and Field Championships held in Brewer Friday.
The host Witches swept the girls and boys titles.
For the girls, the Wildcats’ Kamryn Gilmour took second place in the 1,600-meter racewalk in 9 minutes and 25.69 seconds, while teammate Ellie Smith was fifth in 10:25.26.
Madelyn Wing was the runner-up in the javelin with a throw covering 91 feet, 3 inches.
Libby Moreau placed in three of the competitions. She was fifth in the 100 dash in 13.33 seconds. She also was fifth in the 300 hurdles in 51.65 and was the fourth leg on the 4×400 relay team which placed fifth in 4:26.25.
Others on the relay team were Maggie Castonguay, Clara Kohlbacher and Isabelle Jackson.
Madison Jandreau was sixth in the 3,200 with a time of 12:52.22.
On the boys’ side, the Wildcats’ Jonah Clark scored 10 of their points by taking the 1,600 racewalk in 8:38.17.
Trace Cyr also placed in three events. He took fourth in the 100 dash in 11.59 seconds, fourth in the 400 dash in 52.44 and sixth in the 200 dash in 23.48.
Also placing for PI were Conner Michaud, fifth in the 100 hurdles in 17.19 seconds, and Kyler Caron, who came in sixth in the 300 hurdles in 45.02.
