CLARICE ‘PETTY’ (MCBRINE) SHOREY IRISH, HAYNESVILLE – Clarice ‘Petty’ (McBrine) Shorey Irish, 92, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, May 25, 2018, at EMMC, with her family by her side.
She was born on February 8, 1926, in Skowhegan, the daughter of Judson and Dorothy McBrine. Clarice graduated from Ricker in Houlton. She worked at a shrimp factory, and then did some welding on ships, in Portland, during the war. Clarice also worked many years in a woolen mill in Clinton, ME, and later was a substitute postmaster for the Haynesville Post Office. Clarice known as “Petty” by many, was a kind and loving mother and grandmother, who never seemed to complain. She enjoyed cooking for her family and loved buying them gifts. If anyone was willing to play cards or dice, she would be the first to sit at the table. She loved doing her crafts which she sold at the Rec Center.
She is survived by three sons, Ralph Shorey and his wife, Judy, of Clinton, Scott Irish and his wife, Nam, of Fairbanks, Alaska, and Raymond Irish Jr. and his wife, Anne, of Charlton, MA; three daughters, Roberta Clark of Orient, Sharon Dixon and her husband, Gary, of Benton, and Judy Ireland and her husband, David, of Haynesville. She also leaves behind eighteen grandchildren, twenty-four great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren, as well as one sister, Mary Jane Chick, of Caribou. She was predeceased by her husbands, Ralph Shorey and Raymond Irish Sr.; two brothers, Judson and Joseph; two sisters, Winnifred Carr and Judith Oliver; three children, Michael, Colby, and Melody Shorey, a son-in-law, Carl Clark, and a daughter-in-law, Jackie Shorey. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Gardiner Health-Care for the great care, love, and kindness they gave her the past four years.
Relatives and friends may call at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 30, 2018, at the Haynesville Baptist Church, where a celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. with Joan Sullivan and Victor Hartley officiating. Interment will take place immediately following at the Riverside Cemetery, Haynesville. The family invites relatives and friends to a reception following at the church parsonage following the burial.
