What Students Say
Scott Mitchell Johnson talked to eighth-graders at Presque Isle Middle School
“Other than family and pets, what’s the one thing you would most want rescued from your house if it was on fire and why?”
Leslie Mejia
Age: 13
“Probably family pictures from when we were on vacation.
While I’ll always have those memories, pictures help me remember more specific things that happened.
We’ve gone to Disney World and I’d want to save those family vacation pictures.”

Michaela Dubé

“My acoustic guitar.
I got it for Christmas last year but it was my brother’s before that.
He plays bass guitar now.
Music is just an important thing to me and it would be a lot harder if I didn’t have it [my guitar] to make music.”

“Pictures because you can’t replace them.
A lot of stuff that’s in the house you can replace like cell phones or laptops, but you can’t replace pictures.
Some of the photos at home are in boxes, others are on the walls.
Pictures from family vacations and baby pictures would be important to me.”

Joseph Boone
Age: 13
“I’d have to say my laptop because it has all my pictures and stuff on it that I need.
I’ve had my new laptop for a couple months and I wouldn’t want to lose it.”

Cole Staples
Age: 13
“I think I’d probably save my iPod because I have a lot of stuff on there.
I have pictures of my family from places we’ve been … like a trip to Prince Edward Island, and I use it a lot.
I’d also want to get out any money that I had just in case.”

Brycen Libby
Age: 13
“I have two things.
One would be my baseball that’s autographed by Terry Francona when he used to play.
It used to belong to my stepdad’s uncle.
The other thing would be my grandfather’s binoculars.
They’re really nice and old and he has since passed, so they’re special to me.”
