PATTEN, Maine – Richard Kenneth Brackett, 88, born on December 15, 1929, in Howland, the son of Maurice and Viola (Madden) Brackett, and the husband of Maxine (Rodgerson) Brackett passed away on June 8, 2018, at Mountain Heights HCF in Patten.
Richard attended school in Howland and Stacyville. He went to work in 1946 for the Bangor and Aroostook Railroad, retiring in 1989 after 43 years of service. He served in the Korean War as Military Police. He served as a Deputy Sheriff for 13 years for both Penobscot and Aroostook counties, and also as a town cop for Stacyville, Sherman Station, and Benedicta for several years.
He was a member of Molunkus Lodge #165 A.F. & A.M., Royal Arch Masons of Aroostook #20, member of the St. Aldemar Commandery #17, Sherman area V.F.W.
Richard enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing pool, and telling stories and jokes to his friends. He loved music and enjoyed playing his accordion and harmonica for his family and friends.
He will be missed greatly by his wife of 64 years; his sons, Prince Brackett of Stacyville, and Dennis Brackett and his wife, Melinda, of Patten; his daughter-in-law, Heidi Brackett of Sherman; his six grandchildren, Tabitha Lillis and her husband, Joe, of Island Falls, Cody Brackett and his fiancée, Laura Chicoine, of Patten, Keith Brackett of Patten, Lacey Brackett and Kenneth “J.R.” of Sherman, and Kasey Tracey and her husband, Brandon, of Goulsboro; his great-grandchildren, Shaydin and Robbie Lillis, and Connor Lane, Jason, and Cora Tracey; a great-grandson, Cooper Lillis; and his sister, Mary Farley of Medway; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sons, Keith and Kenneth; his brothers, Wallace, Maurice, and Frederick, and his sister, Charlene.
