PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — Presque Isle will begin its Fourth of July celebration with the 195th Army National Guard Band, who will perform a free one-hour concert of patriotic songs on Tuesday, July 3, at 6 p.m. at the Riverside Public Market Pavilion along Riverside Drive.
Performing for audiences around the world and in their own backyard, the 195th Concert Band has a performance repertoire ranging from military marches to significant wind band works, as well as performing compositions by area composers. The concert band maintains an active performance schedule, playing around the state at numerous military and civilian functions.
The ensemble includes 35 musicians who come from various backgrounds and hometowns across Maine and New Hampshire.
The 195th commander, Chief Warrant Officer Brady Harris of Brewer, is the director of bands at Brewer High School. The top enlisted soldier, First Sergeant Tony Cyrus of Glenburn, is a retired music teacher who taught in Maine and New Hampshire. He now works part time for the U.S. Post Office.
All are welcome to the free performance.
