CARIBOU, Maine — Porvair Filtration Group, located at 15 Armco Ave., recently completed a food drive which collected 214 food items for the Ecumenical Food Pantry in Caribou.
The drive continued the company’s focus on giving back, initiated in 2017 with General Manager David Mika and the office’s employee activity team.
The first two food drives resulted in donations of 487 food items, 20 coats and $50 in cash, all of which went to the food pantry to help those in need.
Additionally, the company’s activities team coordinated a bottle drive this spring, which collected $27 to donate to the local pet rescue shelter.
“Porvair is highly motivated to give back to the community and eager to support local charities,” said Mika.
“Porvair understands and appreciates the imperative need of community support from local businesses, and is enthusiastic to provide help to those in need,” he said.
The company will participate in other activities to that end, including this summer’s strawberry shortcake sale hosted by the Gray Memorial United Methodist Church in Caribou, the proceeds of which go to support local community activities.
Porvair, with headquarters in Segensworth, Hampshire, England, operates several locations both in the United Kingdom and the U.S., from which it supplies filtration equipment to the aerospace, nuclear, energy, process and bioscience industries.
According to Mika, the company’s County location specializes in the sintering — a process of heat treating — metal powders of stainless steel, bronze, and exotic alloys into discs, washers, cups and tubes. These filters ship worldwide.
