AUGUSTA, Maine — Sen. Mike Carpenter, D-Houlton, earned a perfect attendance and voting record during the recently concluded legislative session.
“The people of Aroostook County are known for having a strong work ethic and the tenacity to show up and get the job done,” said Carpenter. “They should expect nothing less from the people that represent them in Augusta, and I am proud of my record of being a strong voice in the Legislature.”
During the second regular session of the 128th Maine Legislature, Carpenter cast 100 percent of the votes recorded, excluding absences excused by the President of the Senate for illness or other extenuating circumstances.
This year, Carpenter sponsored a bill to protect children from unsolicited explicit digital messages, which overwhelmingly passed into law over the governor’s veto in April of this year. The bill was the result of a recent court case in Aroostook County that exposed a gap in current law with regard to indecent exposure and digitally transmitted explicit images.
Carpenter also had a 100 percent attendance record last year.
