HOULTON, Maine — Summer hit with a vengeance last week with temps in the 90’s and humidity up there. We asked for warmer weather and got it. Now we are asking for it to cool down. Even warm it is always nice on the course. Growing conditions are good and the course looks great.
The Men’s Twilight League is at the halfway mark. In the early brackets the leaders are Bob Gray and Jerry York with 24.5 points.they are followed by three teams tied for second with 21.5 points. They are Sean Dolomont and Rick Goodwin, Bob Askren and Jerry Tweedy, and Steve Henderson and Mike Fleming.
The late bracket is lead by Tony Marino and Bruce Avery with 26 points. Second place is held by Brent and Randy Lincoln with 22 points. The Ladies Association played a limited social match due to players away for the holiday.
Coming events include a Couples Scramble this Friday, July 13, starting at 5:15 p.m. It will be $5 per couple. We invite you to come out and meet some new friends to play with. Sunday, July 22, will be our first Golf for Life/Member Scramble for the year. It will start at 3 p.m. with snacks served after.
And of course there is The County Open, coming the weekend of Aug. 11-12. Eighteen hole stroke play at Houlton on Saturday and 18 hole four player scramble at VaJoWa in Island Falls on Sunday. All to benefit the Houlton Regional Hospital Health Foundation. Pick up a sign up app at the course. You can also call the clubhouse at 532-2662 for more info on any of these events.
The Lakeside Restaurant is just humming along this summer. The tasty food served up by Chef Bill and Nancy, and their wonderful staff has been a treat for all comers.
