CARIBOU, Maine — The Northern Maine Karting Association held a racing doubleheader at Spud Speedway Saturday. Two feature races were held as part of the competition.
In the first feature event presented by Kieffer United Insurance Agency of Caribou, Bryan Searles of Presque Isle took first place in the Aroostook Trusses junior cage karts division Kyle Morton of Eddington and Mason Gillis of Detroit came in second and third respectively.
In the Aroostook Savings and Loan senior karts division, Damian Theriault of Caribou pulled out the victory with Tom Hale of Westmanland taking second.
In the second feature event presented by Lavender Puff in Caribou, Morton came back to take the checkered flag in the junior cage karts event, with Searles the runner-up and Gillis placing third.
Theriault again won the senior cage karts race, with Hale finishing as runner-up.
The next event at Spud Speedway will be Saturday, Aug. 11, and will be presented by Machias Savings Bank. Pits will open at 9:30 a.m. with racing starting at noon. Admission to the pits is $10, while grandstand viewing is free.
